Refill lighter

We often receive messages through our customer service asking why a lighter does not work immediately after receipt, or how a "broken" lighter can be fixed.

Often a lighter you just received or have had for a short time is not actually broken. First, you need to empty the lighter you have at home, refill it, and adjust the flame size. In 90% of cases, most problems are resolved this way.

You have purchased a storm lighter from us, and now you want to know how to properly refill a storm lighter? With which gas? etc. We will explain exactly on this page how you can do this yourself with a few simple steps and tips.

First of all, all our lighters are only filled halfway at the factory. This is a legal requirement to comply with safety standards. Therefore, depending on usage, you may need to refill it quite soon after purchase.

  • Step 1: Make sure you have not used your lighter for at least 10 minutes before refilling. It needs to return to room temperature before filling/emptying the lighter.

  • Step 2: Now make sure the lighter is completely empty. To be sure your lighter is really empty, hold the lighter upside down.. then take a pointed object (for example, a pen) and carefully press it on the center valve. (Be careful with your own safety, keep a safe distance from your face.) There is a small pin there that allows the remaining gas to escape from the lighter. Repeat this a few times to be sure your lighter is completely empty.

  • Step 3: Now take your gas refill, note.. It is important to use butane gas (45 psi pressure recommended) from a good brand to ensure proper functioning of your lighter. Our torches are very sensitive to different types of gas, and mixing them can reduce your lighter's performance. Therefore, it is very important to completely empty your lighter first.

Now take the gas bottle, shake it a few times back and forth, and press the valve of the gas bottle precisely and firmly onto the valve of the lighter. Do this for about 3 seconds and repeat up to 3 times. Make sure you do not hear a spraying sound because this means the gas bottle is not filling properly and may even blow air into the lighter, resulting in no proper ignition.

When filling, watch your hands; the gas can be very cold, so it is advisable to place a washcloth between your hand and the bottle or you can also use safety gloves.

  • Step 4: After filling, it is very important to give your lighter time to return to room temperature. Therefore, let it rest for at least 5/10 minutes.

After resting, try to ignite your lighter calmly at a medium setting and not immediately at a high setting.

    Tips:

  • Do not wait to refill until the lighter is completely empty, as this can cause clogging. When the flame starts to get lower, you should already refill the lighter with new lighter gas. Take the example of refueling a car.

  • Butane gas lighters have ignition problems when the temperature is below 19 degrees Celsius. If the lighter does not ignite in cold temperatures, there is nothing wrong with the lighter; it is simply too cold for it.

  • Refill your lighter in a safe place. We recommend doing it in the kitchen sink. Never use it near open flames and always think about your own safety.

You can also suffer thermal injury, so it is important to cover your hands well against any spraying gas since the temperature of this gas is well below freezing.
